The size of the LYd2 class of locomotive is shown once again in this photo of No. 60 standing on No.3 road in the main shed at Gelert's Farm. To the left can be seen Karen, one of our larger steam locos, but still a good deal shorter than the LYd2. Behind Karen can just be seen Sezela No.4, the privately owned Avonside. To the right is the Gladstone car, still undergoing restoration at the time of the photo. Just in front of the carriage the engine compartment doors of LYd2 No.69 stand open.

Looking forward to greater things. The railway, demonstrating a wonderfully rustic look, as seen from the end of the platform at Porthmadog. The signals add to the general feel, despite the grinning Andy Carter who can just be seen halfway up a ladder at the side. The shed between the trees is the main shed at Gelert's Farm.

The power of the diesels is proven. Over the last few weeks NG15 120 was moved from No.2 road outside the main shed to No.8 road, alongside the old civvies shed. The view shows two of the Simplex diesels and one of the two Barclay locomotives based at Gelert's farm after their efforts in moving the huge steam loco.

These particular Chappies were then observed to take up positions as signalmen at Port and Pen-y-mount, from where they efficiently ran operations that day.
