Russell was mainly used on freight services in the Bryngwyn Branch during NWNGR days. This picture is one of the few that exist of those services. Notice that it has already lost the sand box on top of the boiler. Also, the poor loco hasn't seen a can of brasso for a long time: look at the dome and plates, compared to the brass strip on top of the boiler.
