A threatening sky has put the mountains of Snowdonia in silhouette as LYd2 Number 60 Eryri passes Gelert's Farm Halt. The loco's enormous size compared to the narrow rails is obvious from this picture. Mark Herbert 2004 654x500, 89KiB (large file: 1152x864, 427KiB ) |

Gelert, a 1953 0-4-2 Bagnall, pulls a train past Gelert's Farm Works (aerial photo) on its way to the Porthmadog terminus. Adjacent to Gelert's buffer plate stands a four-wheel slate slab trolley with double flanged wheels, an interesting reminder of the origins of many of the narrow gauge railways in this region. To the right, the incomplete framework for the new Railway Extension Department shed can be seen. Rick Beton 1992 520x512, 58KiB (large file: 1149x1131, 185KiB ) |

Gelerts Farm Works in 1993 - an unusually quiet moment! In this view away from the main sheds, Cnicht and the Moelwyn mountains set the skyline. The unfinished Railway Extension Department shed (centre) has since been completed, and the ground frame is now enclosed in a small signal box. Gelert and works train in the yard (No. 2 Road) at Gelerts Farm Works. This part of the yard consists of a four-road Main Shed (to the left of the picture). The shed is the stabling point for carriage and locomotive stock and, as the focal point for shed tours for visitors, it also houses a wealth of historical information and photographs about the railway. Bagnall Gelert passing the new signal box at Gelert's Farm, heading northwards towards Pen-y-mount. Cnicht stands out clearly on the horizon. The trackbed curves to the left of Cnicht, through the Aberglaslyn Pass towards Beddgelert. Rick Beton 1997 594x396, 44KiB |

During 1997, considerable developments took place in the open air displays by the main shed at Gelert's Farm. Here, Dave Meller and Bob Menzies are preparing some of the work. Ths photo was taken at quite an early stage: the scene is rather different now (aerial photo).

Gelert pauses by Gelert's Farm signal box. The signal box controls access from the main line to Gelert's Farm works and is not a block post. Rick Beton 1998 859x571, 95KiB (large file: 1719x1143, 194KiB ) |

A variety of stock in the east yard at Gelert's Farm, as seen from a passing train. This view is only unusual in that it's February and most passengers travel in the summer months. Russell stands central, attached to the small bright orange 60h.p. Simplex No.4 diesel. Restored open wagons and the nearly-finished four-wheel Coach No.6 also feature. Beyond the Simplex is the boiler of Bagnall 3023, sister loco to Gelert, and also the much larger boiler of the NG15 120. Alan Witts, 2005 655x491, 62KiB |

A typical view inside the Big Shed at Gelert's Farm Works. Passengers examine some of the displays in the museum area of the shed, while a line up of diesel locomotives forms a backdrop to the scene. Mark Herbert, 2005 600x450, 68KiB (large file: 1600x1200, 978KiB ) |
