WHR 40th Anniversary Gala

Visiting Hunslet locomotive Lilla joined Gelert. Here, Gelert arrives in Platform 1 with the passenger service, whilst Lilla waits to depart with the demonstration freight train.

The freight train consists of an RNAD brake van, three open Hudson bogie wagons, and the Mines Rescue van.

Ruston & Hornsby 48DL Diesel locomotive No.3 stands in Porthmadog platform 2 with the demonstration freight train. The next view shows the locomotive close up.

The freight train consists of the Mines Rescue van, three open Hudson bogie wagons, and the famous 'fighting' brake van.

Ruston & Hornsby 48DL Diesel locomotive No.3 stands in Porthmadog platform 2 with the demonstration freight train.

Seen from the side, the driver's sideways-facing seat can be seen. The tall lever is both clutch and gear changer. There are three gears (plus, of course, a reversing lever, not visible here).

This fine restoration is in its original orange Hoveringham Gravels livery, with red buffer weights and chassis.

Ruston & Hornsby No. 10 at Gelert's Farm, its restoration nearing completion. It is sitting on No.8 Road, behind the loco shed, with the gantry crane just out of view on the right.

The fascinating WW1 petrol driven MRT No.264 is now in a part-complete state and is seen on display for the first time, this being in the display yard outside the Big Shed. Behind stands yellow Hunslet No.7.

This tourist toastrack is one of the original Welsh Highland coaches. It is Coach No.42 and is seen here almost ready to enter passenger service.

The evening sunlight catches visiting Quarry Hunslet loco “Lilla” as it runs round at Porthmadog (WHR). The loco is working an evening special for members, hence the unusually quiet platform!
