Down at last! The first ballast was laid at the northern end of the extension. This is where the buffer stops will be for a year or so while Phase Two is being built. The ballast is being laid upon Terram geotextile for the full length of the loop so that it can be cleanly(-ish) removed later when the loop is replaced by through line.
Notice that the footpath fence (left) is still unfinished in this photo.

Another load of ballast is delivered. The headshunt widens out into the loop here. so a lot of ballast will be needed for the wider formation along the length of the loop.

Here is the farm crossing where Phase 1 finishes. Arriving from the Porthmadog, the footpath leaves the Railway here and branches off north (behind the camera).

Off to the south east of the Railway, some distance south of Traeth Mawr is the new sheep pen area built on behalf of Mr Puw, our neighbour at Penmount Farm. This will help the livestock rearing on a farm divided by the Railway because fewer livestock transfers across the track will be necessary.

The last picture in this group shows new fences and walling recently completed a short way south of Traeth Mawr. All the fencing is now complete except for a couple of kissing gates, stiles and some farm level crossing work.
