The farmer's bypass lane makes further progress. View northward. The excavator driver took the photo (hence the vacant seat!). Mark Holden 768x555, 107KiB |

The farmer's bypass lane makes further progress. View southward. On the right, another team is working on the Traeth Mawr passing loop earthworks. Mark Holden 768x513, 87KiB |

The farmer's bypass lane is nearly finished here. The pile of soil visible behind the wall on the left is a temporary pile at the very end of the Phase 1 Extension. Mark Holden 768x576, 103KiB |

Mike Schumann (FR) and Dave Meller (WHR) discuss progress amidst the earthworks of Traeth Mawr loop. This is the northern end; the surveying pegs show how the formation will narrow into the run-round headshunt. Mark Holden 493x537, 71KiB |

Panoramic photo looking over the Penmount Farm crossing, as seen from the east. The crossing is where the gates are on the right. The grey box near the centre is actually a light-blue shipping container, used as the store for the extension work. Moel-y-Gest looms in the background. Mark Holden 1280x450, 115KiB |

Panoramic photo looking north, showing the view beyond Cynfal Cottage (which is off to the left). The rising profile of Creassy's Embankment is clear, traced into the distance by the wooden fence posts. The volunteers' caravan and loo can be seen, tucked into the bank. The railway formation curves left as it heads north past the caravan. Cnicht dominates the skyline and to its right is the dark hollow of the Croesor Valley, the original destination of the Croesor Tramway. Mark Holden 1280x450, 112KiB |

This is the small road that passes Cynfal Cottage, which is just off to the right. Here will be a level crossing. Tremadoc cliffs dominate the skyline. Mark Holden 576x389, 67KiB |

The footpath follows the Railway for some distance out of Porthmadog. Here the formation and fences are finished but more tidying up of the batters (earth embankments) still remains to be done. The volunteers' caravan is close. Mark Holden 768x535, 143KiB |
|
|
Further north, the footpath requires its fence still. Mark Holden 768x529, 145KiB |
|
|
Yet further north still, a certain amount of dry stone walling needs to be done. Mark Holden 680x551, 138KiB |

This is the same position as the previous photo, but looking south. A slight right-hand curve is evident on the formation. The whole extension from Pen-y-Mount to Traeth Mawr has several gentle curves, joined by straight sections. This should make it quite interesting to drive the trains. Mark Holden 734x520, 132KiB |
