No.9 Siding Project
One of the tasks allocated for Civil's Week 2003 was to build a new siding into the former Civil Engineering Shed. This was to make new space for Carriage and Wagon repairs. There were already two sidings into the shed (Nos 5 and 6 Roads) and another was planned for use during the restoration of wagons and small coaches.

Stepping back a bit from the previous photo, we can see the curvaceous s-bend leading into the shed. This is quite probably the tightest curve on the whole railway and is far too tight to get steam locos round, for example. But that's not the point, narrow guage railways are always appropriate on constricted and low budget projects, and here is a classic! Rick Beton | |
